What is
First Responders Day?
National First Responders Day was created in 2017 to honor and recognize the courage, selflessness, and sacrifice of first responders every day. It pays tribute to the responders’ services to their communities and honors those who have fallen in service.
Who is a First Responder?
A first responder is someone with specialized training who is among the first to arrive at the scene of an emergency. This usually includes police officers, paramedics, EMTs, and firefighters, but some jurisdictions also require doctors, nurses, and military forces to respond to emergencies.
Our First Responders
Day Story
Franklin Madison's National First Responders Day initiative was born out of a desire to show gratitude to the first responders in our communities. We didn’t realize that it would also be a great way to engage remote employees and unite around a common value.
With a workforce that is spread out throughout the country, it has been difficult to participate in community service events together. Acknowledging the importance of first responders in every community, the initiative was centered around allowing employees to choose and recognize their own local heroes. By prioritizing community outreach, we were able to strengthen our bond with employees and also highlight the value we place on those who selflessly serve their communities.
We hope that you too will consider making First Responders Day a national community service event for your employees and partners, both for the value it brings to the community and also for the sense of unity it brings to your team. Here are some suggestions on how to go about creating your initiative:
